An island in the Yucatan, timeless
35km long and 1km wide, a strip of land, or rather sand, barely separated by the mainland by the lagoon Yalahan. The small village of Holbox is mainly inhabited by fishermen who move only golf cart, cyclo, motorbike, bicycle and on foot of course, since there is no road but only sandy paths. Hotels like the houses are built of wood Cabanettes following local tradition creating a homogenous, authentic and welcoming atmosphere.
The island of pirates
He said that pirates and young Mayan girls of the island would convolé fair wedding, and would therefore have had children. Eight or more generations have succeeded, but some people on the island would indeed be the little ones of these couples. Regional pride!

People come here to rest, to nature, to the sport ... but some attractions are particularly popular as diving with whale sharks, fishing.
You can rent one of those golf carts to cross the island, enjoy the scenery and fresh air from the sea. Or maybe you prefer to ride a boat to the Isla Pájaros, Cabo Catoche at the Punta Mosquito ... or just to see the dolphins, watch the flamingos.

Small things to know
Beware chaquistes, small transparent and ferocious mosquitoes, which unfortunately resistant to all anti-mosquito. It seems that the only thing that can protect you is the transparent oil made for infants.
The island being cut part of civilization, to better forget it and relax ... there is no bank on the island, so be sure to have money with you, pesos or dollars, because trade is still there! And do not worry either to do for communication: there is an internet cafe.
